Circus reflection

On Monday we reflected on our circus unit. We got into a circle and began to form a spider web of facts, likes, dislikes and opinions. By the end of the task we had a huge spider web which showed how much we had learnt about the circus.

Week 10 homework question

This week I would like you to comment when you answer the following question: Question - What have you enjoyed most when learning about the circus? Add detail to your answer and don't forget to give reasons why you liked something.

Friday Discovery time

Every Friday we have Discovery time. Discovery time is when we work towards our key competencies. Our key competencies are participating and contributing, relating to others, thinking, using language, symbols and text and managing self. Together we create different tasks. Our tasks today included:

• Bubbles - count how many bubbles you can blow in one breath


• Mobilo - Make a creative vehicle with a patner


• Kliko - make the fastest car and race it agianst someone else


• Making box - Work with Estelle to create different sized snowflakes


• Marble Run - Create the fastest track for your marble.


• Building blocks - Make the biggest castle with a partner

Painting our faces

Here is a slide show of our face painting day. We had so much fun painting one anothers face.

Circus clowns

Last week we looked through books and created our very own clown. This week we are going to use our designs to paint our partners face. Keep checking the blog to see our face paint photos.

Maths Task

Each day Mrs Filipo sets small groups maths task. They have to go outside to complete these.

Today the squares maths group worked in small groups on the following tasks:

• Show 5x5 on materials
• Find 2D and 3D shapes around the school, take a photo and label them.
• Find objects and sort the from shortest to tallest and then tallest to shortest.

Andy the magician

Today Andy came in and put on an amazing performance for us.

Look at the pictures and talk about the performance with your family and friends. Talk about your favourite parts and explain why you liked it so much. Talk about the different clown personalities Andy played. Remember the three types of clowns we have been learning about - The Auguste clown, the white faced clown and the character clown.
