Fire safety

We have been getting fire wise in our class.

Yesterday we used drama to act out different fire evacuations. We also used drama to act out different fire scenarios. We looked at what to do and what not to do when people are using fire for cooking and heating.

Estelle's Huhu grub

Today Estelle brought in a Huhu Grub. We watched it burrow its way into the wood and make tunnels.

Week 11 homework question

This is our last homework question for term one! Last week we have started looking at fire safety. We discussed what to do in a fire and looked at evacuation plans. This week I want you to explain the following: Your fire evacuation plan that you and your family have at home. What do you do? Where do you meet? Mrs Filipo :)

Circus reflection

On Monday we reflected on our circus unit. We got into a circle and began to form a spider web of facts, likes, dislikes and opinions. By the end of the task we had a huge spider web which showed how much we had learnt about the circus.

Friday Discovery time

Every Friday we have Discovery time. Discovery time is when we work towards our key competencies. Our key competencies are participating and contributing, relating to others, thinking, using language, symbols and text and managing self. Together we create different tasks. Our tasks today included:

• Bubbles - count how many bubbles you can blow in one breath


• Mobilo - Make a creative vehicle with a patner


• Kliko - make the fastest car and race it agianst someone else


• Making box - Work with Estelle to create different sized snowflakes


• Marble Run - Create the fastest track for your marble.


• Building blocks - Make the biggest castle with a partner
